GAMING CHARGES.
TWO MEN ARRESTED.
RAID BY DETECTIVES.
- I BETTING MATERIAL SEIZED. Two men were arrested this morning by Detective Sergeant McHugh and Detective Nalde'r on charges under the Gaming Act. At 11.30 the detectives went to Dominion Road, 'where they took into custody Alfred Harold Griffiths, aged 37, on a charge of using premises at 313, Dominion Road, as a common gaming house. Half an hour later the same two detectives arrested Francis Augustine Bolton, aged 34, described as a fruiterer, on a charge of using premises at 211, Eden Terrace, as a common gaming house. The detectives at each place seized a quantity of betting material, and alff took several bets over the telephone. At 12.30 both men appeared before Mr. Femvick, J.P., when they were each remanded on £100 bail, to appear at the Police Court on Monday morning.
