Offerings largely consisted of fine to superior scoured Merinos and New Zealand crossbreds, for which there was an- improved Home and Continental demand, with firmer prices. Wheat for delivery in March is quoted at Chicago at $1.20% per bushel: For May delivery the rate is> for .July $1.26%*, and for September $1.28%.
SYDNEY WOOL SALES.
SYDNEY, January 28,
The Sydney wool sales were 'resumed to-day. There >was good general competition. The market, in sympathy with the recent decline in London and Brisbane, was 10 per cent below the previous Sydney sales,- and in the case of poor, thin, wasty and dusty lots; the. decline was 12% per cent.' Greasy Merino to-day made 25% d. A total of 8510 bales was sold.
