HELENSVILLE SHOW.

'.'■•■ iT~T~; '*-- ■■■■■ r" ■ ■ - •• POPULAR GATHERING. < OPENED BY KT. HON. J. G. ■ COATES. . PRINCIPAL PRIZE-WINNERS. As year lias succeeded year, Helensville A and P. Show has become-indica-tive of the progress of this remarkable producing district. The thirty-first annual event was opened this morning in beautiful weather'by the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates, M.P. for Kaipara. There was a large crowd present when Mr. Coates congratulated all concerned on the progress made. New records have been created, the entries exceeding last year's by/.500.-".,;;"" ■"'■.";...,■-.. The arrangements made by Mr. T. 0. Robinson, secretary, for display, of stock and the ring events were excellent, and much interest was taken in the latter, Helens ville Show is really a country fair, and side-shows were more prominent this year than on any other occasion. Special trains brought large crowds of people from as fajr north as' Whangarei and also from south of Pukekohe. Stock from all parts of the province was on exhibition, and:competition was most, keen. Some of the pedigree animals were outstanding, and would compare very /favourably with other Auckland provincial shows. > One feature which was most favourably commented upon was that the judging started punctually and was most expeditiously carried out. Stock judges commented on the class of entries avid also on the get-up of the exhibits generally. In the horse classes some very -fine animals were to be seen,, and ring competitions were keen. Much favourable comment was made at the decision of some, of the stock judges to explain .why they had made awards to various beasts. This-show.jwill be recorded 1 , as one of the most successful* in the history-of the Helensville A. and P. Association. Results were :— '. ' ■ . HORSES.
