WAIHOU RIVER POLLUTION. » The settlers of Mangaiti at a public meeting discussed the attitude of the Health Department and the Borough Council , in connection with the alleged pollution of the Waihou Eiver from the Te Aroha borough. The Board of Health had called on the Borough Council to cease discharging untreated sewage into the river, said the chairman, Mr. F. M. Strange. The board presumed tbe council had received the letter. In any case it was the duty of the council to co-operate with the settlers in the purification of the river. It was decided to call on the Government to revoke the declaration of the river as a sludge channel. MOTOR SERVICES. ■OOTORUA - A UCKLAXD - TTAMILTON il J-.L SINGLE. RETURN. LTD.
