! PROGRESS WITH TUNNELLING. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) . WELLINGTON, this day. The Public Works Department reports, on the Tawa Flat railway deviation, that the bottom head of No. 1 tunnel has been completed right through its length'of 03 chains. The line and level when, the headings met were absolutely correct. . It is hoped that this tunnel will be completed within 12 months and that by that time the heading work in No: 1 tunnel, of two miles 33° chains, will be complete. It is considered that excellent progress is being made with the work.
