UNITY OF CHURCHES.
SIT. EDEN EVANGELICAL RALLY
"WE "STAND OR;FALL TOGETHER."
Striking evidence of the unity of the! Evangelical Churches , in ; the Mount j Eden district was seen oh Sunday evening, when a rally was held at the Edenvale Presbyterian - Church. The following ministers were present: Revs. H. H. Jeffreys, R. C. Roberts; A. S. Wilson, W. Gilmour, W. Rowy'H. AJG. Clarke, and A. Fear. The Rev.,A..Gilmour, who conducted the singing, requested, the ministers toeing. The.congregation sat enraptured'": while the ministers gang one of the hymns. This may develop into a ministerial male voice choir. The-Rev. A. S. Wilson addressed the gathering, and created an atmosphere in; which each felt that the.things that unite the Churches are far more real and vital than the things that separate them. -, Similar gatherings will take place in all the Mount Eden churches. Once a month the ministers meet to exchange notes, and to investigate ways and means of advancing what they regard as their common aim. By such, united efforts they believe they can better serve the community. . [;'.';; . . .' "We have a long way to go and .a great deal to learn," : said one minister, "but we have already learnt that .we need each other, that we all need the same spiritual uplift which fellowship provides, and that i we stand or fall together. We forget the.accident of our belonging to different denominations, but we bring to the forefront the fact of our unity and unanimity. If we be beaten we shall be beaten to our knees."
