NEWS AND NOTES
SPORTS CLUBS' DOINGS
The Sports Motor Cycle Club held their fortnightly run on Sunday, July 21, lea\ing Western Springs for YVaiwera, via Kiverhead, at 10 a.m.
The following riders assembled, realising that the unmetallcd portions of the road would show some spectacular riding:—L. Coulthard, P. Fletcher, R. Vinci. J, Emery, W. Tr.emayne, H. Fletcher, A. Harry, J. Stewart, Mr. Robinson, A. Broadwood, G. Leonard, A. McLaren, D. McLaren and 5. Brookes.
The weather at the start was line, and remained so until the clay road at Riverhead was reached, when a heavy shower was encountered, making the surface extremely slippery. After dinner at Silverdale the party journeyed to Orcwa Beach, returning to the city via Albany and Devonport. The day's outing was most enjoyable, although some riders experienced slight difficulty in starting, proving that some electric systems arc not quite waterproof under adverse conditions.
