FUSE BLOW-OUTS.
CONSUMERS' COMPLAINTS
EXPLANATION BY OFFICIAL,
According to complaints received this morning, a number of electric light fuses in the Auckland Electric Power Board's area blew out last evening, and the impression of those affected was that the trouble was clue to fluctuating voltage on the board's lines. This opinion, however, was corrected by a power board official, who stated that no complaints of an extraordinary number of blowouts had been received.
At all events, it was stated, the trouble was not due to fluctuating voltage, as the board regulated its supply to a closer margin than that stipulated by the Government regulations. It was seh'om that fuse trouble was the fault of the board, which would not expect consumers to meet the charge of .'5/ demanded for renewals should such be the case. A fuse might be caused by many things, such as generally overloading of the fuses, a lamp blowing out, a fault in the circuit, or oxidising. Usually the disruption in the service was the result of a lamp blowing out. Tf the voltage had fluctuated last evening, fuse trouble would have-been experienced all over the board's district, and not merely confined to individual cases.
