Marriage License.
FRENCH COMEDY.
(Australian and N.Z. Press Association.)
(Received 1.30 p.m.)
PARIS, June 6.
Henri Benesse, though only seventeen, wanted to be married, so his father took him to Hilaire, Cambrai, Town Hall, to get the necessary papers. Ignoring the presence of Henri the Registrar assured the father, "But your son is not yet born." The father insisted that he knew better through having seen him daily and having kept him for seventeen years,
But the Registrar -was adamant. The jirth was never registered and so, not being born, the youth could not possible be married. The father unavailingly gave the date and the time of registration, so there was nothing for it but to hunt up the doctor and nurse to have Henri officially born, only to be instantly married.
