DEAR OYSTERS.

COSTING 17/9 EACH. POACHER BEFORE COURT. Oysters are dear at any time, but more particularly when an inspector of the Fisheries Department catches you breaking them off the rocks in the gulf. Thomas Monk lias never paid as much for oysters as Mr. F. K. Hunt, S.M., made' him pay at the Police Court this morning. Monk, who did not appear, was charged with taking oysters during the close season. Mr. V. N. Hubble, who prosecuted, said Monk was breaking them off a rock, and had a paper bag for use as a container. He had four oysters when caught. Defendant was fined £2, and costs £1 11/, which works out at 17/9 per oyster.
