WELLINGTON UNEMPLOYED.
LEADERSHIP DISPUTE. TRADES HALL MEETING. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, this day. For a week or more a young man named Higgins has been endeavouring to hold meetings of unemployed in the city. He has been refused room at the Trades Hall, and on one occasion when the Trades Hall was invaded by himself and his associates the police wei'e called, and he was ordered off the premises. This morning a meeting of unemployed was called by the Unemployment Committee of the Trades and Labour Council, and the unemployed were asked whether they were going to follow Higgins or whether they were content with the Unemployed Committee. After addresses had been given by both sides a motion was carried expressing confidence in the committee. Higgins and his associates hold that the Unemployment Committee has done nothing, and advocate forming one big unemployed union, to become, affiliated with the Trades and Labour Counci-, and have its own unemployed representatives.
