Hostilities are again threatened in this part of China as the culmination ©f almost a year's disagreements between the Hankow and Nanking factions. The Nanking faction, which represents the recognised Nationalist Government, is mobilising a large force in anticipation of attacks from the Hankow forces. Numerous Chinese merchant vessels at Shanghai and in the vicinity have been forcibly commandeered. This has inflicted enormous losses on the shipping companies which own them. Several gunboats controlled by the banking authorities have left Shanghai en route to the Lower Yangtse River. The refusal by local money changers to accept notes of the Central Bank of China yesterday, is regarded as significant of impending trouble. The downfall of the Nationalist Government, which unceasingly has bled the people and imposed a "mailed fist" regime, would not be unwelcome in many quarters. FISHING RIGHTS.
