ROWING.
PROVINCIAL CHAMPIONSHIPS. CLOSE RACING PROMISED. The opportunity of witnessing a purely, rowing regatta that comprises the Auckland Rowing Association's provincial championships has been debarred the sports loving section of the community for many years
but next Saturday, on the Whau River, the long-looked for regatta will be staged The course is one of the best, if not the finest in the Dominion for rowing races; while from the hillside, which forms a natural grandstand, the races can be seen in comfort from start to finish. The entries have exceeded expectations, and include the crack crews from Tauranga and Hamilton. As the crews are all on the top of their form, rowing of the highest standnrd, and exceptionally keenly contested races are promised. The difficulties of transport hare been overcome with a frequent bus service—as advertised elsewhere in these columns—that will take patrons right to the course. The races include every class from the scullers to the eight-oars This will be the last occasion this season that the eight-oar crews will be seen in action the race being Country v. Town. The event alone will be worth the journey for eightoar rowing—with two select crews in best and beet boats—i« of a most spectacular nature.
