NAPIER MEETING. OPEIiWG DAY TO-MORROW. THE CTELDS REVIEWED. The Xapiw Park autumn meeting will open to-morrow, and fairly good fields are engaged in the various events. In the hurdles Diana's Lad heads the lift, and his last success was at the Manawatu summer meeting, though he had shown good form over the "sticks" earlier in the season. Panorama waa placed twice in hurdle rac?s at Woodville, and Braeman finished second and third respectively in the two high-weight handicaps he contested at the Dannevirke meeting. Criehna won both hurdle e\ents at the Poverty Bay meeting last month, while of the others Abisogne and First Prince may be the best. The chief fancies may be CRISHNA. BRAEMAN. Eighteen are carded for the Esk Handicap. Delude won over seven furlongs at the Dannevirke meeting, and Bernera annexed the Countv Hack, six furlongs, and Sylvan Dell the Oringi Hack Handicap, six furlongs at the same fixture. Mangaheri won the Maiden Plate at Manawatu and since then has been placed on three occasions. Repay has shown form this season, but (Jlavers has nothing to commend him recently. Shot Silk won a couple of events at the Marlborough meeting, and perhaps the best backed will be SYLVAN DELL, SHOT SILK. In the Sapling Stakes Admiral Drake, •who is at the top of the handicap, won at the Wellington spring meeting, and "was placed on four other occasions. My Own was second in the Sapling and Debutante Stakes at Wondville, and appears to be a good sort. Lordlike has not raced much, and his best performance was in finishing second in the Prince of Wales Stakes at the last Napier meeting. Of the others San Quex, who was second at Dannevirke, nay be the best. The chief public fancies may be MY OWN, ADMIRAL DRAKE. The Napier Cup has atttracted a field of eleven. Commendation was placed in two six-furlong events at Woodville, and should be an improved horse tomorrow. Joy King won the Harrison Memorial, one mile and 110 yards, at Wanganui, while White Fang won the Consolation Handicap, one mile and aquarter, at the Wellington summer meeting, after running well at Kllevslie and also on the first two days of the meeting at Trentham. Singleton is a useful sort and annexed the Gisborne Gold Cup, one mile and a-quarter, last month. Concentrate has not be placed since he dead-heated with Vertigern in the Grandstand Handicap at Elletslie. Blimp Avon the Woodville Cup in good style and with 7.7 is well in. High Court, who annexed the Dannevirke Cup, -will also have friends. Most money tnay go on BLIMP, W 7 HITE FANG. Tresham, who won at the Marlberough meeting, has 10.1 in the Autumn Handicap, 'but it is stated he is an unlikely ■tarter. The Swell has run well recently, while Merry Mint would only need to be at his best to nave a great show. King Willonyx raced well at Gisborne, and appears to be the l>est of those lower down. The most fancied may be THE SWELL. KING WILLONYX.

There is a large field in the Maiden Scurry and recent form may incline backers to MOTHPLANE, MALAHAT. Ridgemount heads the acceptors in the Flying Handicap, and he has performed well recently. Marry Damon showed pood form earlier in the season, and would only need to be at his be?t to take a lot of beating. Rapine may require a longer distance, but Epistle is a likely sort. Moa Bird has not raced for some time, but all the same can go fast. Kaihoro won two events at Waipukurau and one at Hawke's Bay. ami is stated to be in good fettle at present. Merry Mint and Lipsol are probably the pick of those lower down. The 'principal selections when the machine closes may be RIDGKMOUNT, KAIHORO. The programme will conclude with the Redclyffe Hack Handicap, and most money may go on DELUDK, RORY MOR.
