ARDUOUS MOUNTAIN CLIMB TO BE ELIMINATED.—A scene on the Meremere Hill, a tortuous climb of 24 miles, characterised by tricky bends and precipitous banks, connecting Opotiki and Motu, half-way to Gisborne. An alternative route, the Waioeka Gorpe, has now been practically completed, and is expected to become the main highway.
