IDLE MINES.
THROUGH FLOOD AND STRIKE NO CHANGE AT HIKURANUI. The strike of miners employed by the Wilsons Portland Cement Company at Wilsons colliery, Hikurangi, involves about 200 men. In" addition, over 2i)U men are unemployed owing to the flooding of the Hikurangi Company's mine. The prospect for Hikurangi, which depends almost solelv on the mines, is black. This afternoon it was stated on behalf of the Cement Company that there had been no development in the position. The company had a sufficient supply of cement to meet demands for some time.
