DOCTOR RESIGNS.
AUCKLAND POLICE SURGEON, TWENTY YEARS' SERVICE. VETERAN OF TWO WARS. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") WELLINGTON', this day. Uγ. D. X. W. Murray, C.M.U., D.5.0., : M.D.. who has occupied the position of police and prisons surgeon in Auckland for the past twenty years., has tendered his resignation to the Minister of Justice (Hun. T. M. Wilford). Hγ. Munary was born in Auckland in lfwti. He received his early education Ht the Auckland Grammar School and Hie Auckland University College, and later proceeded to the Edinburgh University, where he graduated M.8., B.Ch., in IW2. Later he became honorary physician and surgeon at the Leict'oter Hospital and honorary physician to the Ancoats Hospital. Returning to Xew Zealand, Dr. Murray practised in Auckland for some time in partnership with Dr. T. Hope Lewis. He was then selected by Professor Chain hs one of twelve Xew Zealand surgeons for service in the Boer War, a position which he rilled with efficiency and credit to himself. The work gave him insight into that field of medicine which he was destined to carry out on a larger scale in after years. Dr. Murray has occupied the position of police surgeon at Auckland continuously since 10IIS. except for an interval during the European war. when he ranked as colonel in the Xew Zealand Medical (nips. He was assist-ant-Director of Medical Service?, and was attached to the Xew Zealand Division in i.erinany after the armistice. He also served in Egypt, (iallipoli and France, rind returned to the Dominion in liH!>. He was appointed in \'.)i'.i t<> the position of honorary phy.-ician at the Auckland Hospital and he a'su held an appointment a> honorary surgeon of the Vettrans' Home and the Sailors' Home.
