AT TAKAPUNA TO-DAY. RESULTS OF EARLY EVENTS. NEARLY FIFTY COMPETITORS. No previous meeting promoted by the Auckland Motor Racing Club has ever attracted such representative "speed merchants" as to-day'e carnival, which is being attended by a large crowd. The feature of to-day's meeting will be the contest between the Blackburn Bluebird aeroplane, pilo ed by Lieut. Lan Keith, and a>. motor ridden by Percy Coleman. This novelty event ie timed to start at 3.30. SHORE HANDICAP. Five miles. K. Yates (Res Acme), 20s 1 S. Roberts (Rex Acme), 30s -J J. Garmson (Rex Acme), 5s 3 Thirteen riders faced the starter: Vates and Roberts were close together In the last three laps, and in a thrilling finish Yates won by barely two lengths with Garmson well back, third. Time, 4.53 2-5. AUCKLAND HANDICAP. Five miles. C. Goodwin (Royal Enfield) 20s 1 W. Kilniister (A.J.8.) 25s 2 D. Smith (Norton) 20s 3 There were twelve starters in this even f . Coleman for tone reason did not appear, (hough his machine was ready on the track for him. Lemon was the leader in the first three laps, with Goodwin moving up fast. In the fourth circuit Goodwin led Kilminster by twenty yards with Smith jii close attendance. Ranby, who was the only one of the back-markers to make an/ impresison on the field, was next with others strung out. Goodwin had no diliiculty in winning by about one hundred yards from Kilmister.
