NO DRINKING WATER.
[ SCHOOL CHILDREN'S LONG WALK. «- A M- the executive meeting of the Mount Wellington Ratepayers' Association, Mr. R. McCulloch, the newlv-elected president, presiding, it was reported that the i anmure school was without water for the children and that thev had been instructed by the teachers that thev could go to the Panmure Sprint* for a drink if they needed it. The sprint is about a quarter of a mile from the school. This was considered by members to be a very dangerous practice, owing to there being such a volume of traffic on the main road. A resolution was passed instructing the secretarv to write to the commissioner for the Panmure district school asking that water be supplied at the school for the children. It was reported that ratepayers were joining up in fair numbers for the association's second year of life.
