A Chicago criminal's sweetheart, who is being protected by detectives against the intimidation which has ruined other I witnesses, holds the key to the position of the investigation into the murders of seven employees of a cartage company by a gang of bandits on February 14. Even the newspapers have agreed to shield her identity. Bhe is a pretty blonde, who was caught with Jack Magurn, known as the t'apones' chief machine-gunner, in his hiding place fn a certain hotel. The police intimated to-day that the girl had related the whole story of the massacre. The newspapers call th# girl Louise Rolfe, but although she is the centre of the greatest crime story in America, the newspaper photographers have agreed not to take her photoera ph, and reporters will not interview her. In this pianner they are assisting the police. Jack Magurn, rated as the "ace" of gangster machine-gunners, was arrested and charged with leading the Valentine 1 Day massacre, when seven employees of a garage were shot, as an outgrowth of the so-called "beer war."
