A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.

ALTERATION IN SHOW BATES. SUGGESTION TO BE CONSIDERED. A meeting of the council of the Auckland A. and P. Association was held yesterday afternoon, Mr. S. Hamlin, vicepresident, presiding in tha absence of Mr. W. W. Massey, who was in Wellington attending a meeting of the Board of Agriculture. A letter was received from the secretary of the N. 2. Land Settlement League (Mr. N. G. Gribble), stating that a conference of all associations and societies interested would be htld In Wellington on March 12 and 13. It was requested that the Auckland A. and P. Association should appoint two delegates especially in view of the fact that many important matters in connection with land settlement would be discussed with Ministers of the Crown. Mesfcrs. W. J. H. Reynolds and A. J. Stratford were selected to attend.. Considerable discussion ensued over the question of altering the dates of Auckland's show. At a previous meeting Mr. W. J. W. Pascoe had given notice of motion that it be a recommendation to the annual meeting, which will he held on March 22, that no spring show should be held this year but that all efforts be concentrated on an Autumn show in 1930. Mr. W. F. O'Donnell. managing secretary. expressed the Opinion that he did not think the projected change would be detrimental to the association. Acting on the membership to-day he felt certain that the spring show would not he a success. He felt certain that an autumn show would Increase the association's membership three or four fold. The main difficulty against Auckland's spring show was that oi securing suitable dates. Everything pointed to an autumn show being a much better institution than one held in the spring, and it was anticipated that entries would be greater. A general discussion took place on the question of holding the two shows, and it was finally decided that such a course would be detrimental. The motion was seconded by Mr. J. P. T. Mitchell and carried unanimously.
