FRANKTON STOCK SALE.

STORE SHEEP EASIER. BEEF DEMAND WEAKER. Messrs. Dalgety and Co., Ltd.. repoi t haying held their usual weekly stock sale at Frankton saleyarda on Tuesday. There was an average yarding ot beet, hut the major portion of it was only second quality, only a few choice pens being yarded. The demand was weaker than usual. Choice heavy young cows sold at tip to £9 15/; ordinary fat cows and heifers, £7 to £8 15/; light young cows, £4 15/ to £5 17/6; runners, to £.5 10/. There was a good yarding of store cattle, but owing to the heavy yarding of sheep and being so late before commencing on the store cattle, the majority of buyers had left the sale, and there was only a very small amount of business, the majority being turned out unsold. We sold a pen ot three-year steers at £10. A pen ot yearling Shorthorn steers (moderate quality). £5 5/; bulls. £4 5/ to £S; daily incalf heifers, £6 10/.

There was a very large yarding of sheep, every pen and all the races being filled, and possibly about SOOO of all classes yarded. Fat sheep sold on a par with late rates. Fat heavy wethers making up to 34/6; fat ewes, 20/6 to J-V: fat woolly lambs, 24/ to 28/6.

The demand for store sheep was weaker, and a good many lines were passed at auction. Our yarding comprised about 3600 and the following were our principal sales: 179 m.s. shorn lambs, 17/3; 40 cull lambs. 11/6; 58 small woolly lambs, 14/3; 54 woolly lambs, 14 '6; 84 woolly lambs, I.V; 4.3 fat ewes, 22/; 68 fat ewes. 21/9; 19-3 four and five-year ewes, 26/; 94 ewes, 4 I A and four-year, 26/: 72 m.a. ewes, 18/; 33 mixed aged ewes, 24/9; 38 cull ewes, 12/6; several pens of cull ewes, 14/6 to 17/6. There was a large yarding of both fat and store pigs. Heavy prime baconers, £3 5/ to £3 16/; medium baconers, £2 14/ to £3: best porkers. £2 5/ to £2 9/; light porkere, £1 18/ to £2 3/; choppers, £2 to £3 3/; best stores. £1 18/ to £1 16/; slips, 14/ to 19/; weauers, 6/ to 12/6.

The Farmers Co-operative Auctioneering Co., Ltd., report:—At Frankton stock sale yesterday we had a good entry of cattle, beef showing a further decline in prices, while fat sheep were practically on a parwith previous sales. A heavy yarding of young cattle came forward, the majority failing to reach the reserve, and were passed in. Store sheep were probably the largest yarding that has come forward for some considerable time, but did not meet with the same competition as at previous sales. Lambs and breeding ewes were affected most. A heavy yarding of baconers and* porkers was firm and in good demand at late rates. The market was quiet for store pigs and weanere. We quote: Light fat steers, £12: heavy fat cowe, £9 to £10 17/6; medium, £7 10/ to £8 of; lighter, £6 to £7 2/6; forward conditioned cows. £4 13/ to £o 10/; store cows, £3 5/ to £4 5/; Jersey heifer calves, £3 10/ to £4. Sheep.—Fat wethers, 33/ to 34/6: fat ewes, 19/6 to 22/9; fat lambs, 25/ to 286; forward conditioned 4-tooth wethers, 29/ to 31/; 2-tooth wethers, 27/ to 28/6; 2- | tooth ewes, 25/6; s.m. breeding ewes. 22/ I to 24/; f jn. breeding ewes, 13/3 to 17/10. Good woolly m.s. lambs, 22/4; shorn ewe lambs, 20/6; shorn m.s. lambs, 18/3; woolly wether lambs, 18/3 to 19/; shorn wether lambs, 17/ to 17/3; cull lambs, 12/ to 14/10.
