MEETING OF WATTEMATA BOARD.

The Waitemata Electric Power Board I met this morning, Mr. J. W. Hayden presiding. The secretary and treasurer (Mr. A. Main.) stated that during January tfca gross sales of current amounted to £37:28, compared with £3540 for the corresponding month last year, an increase of £188. The total sales for the ten months ended January 31 were £32,860, as against £41,081 for the first ten months of last financial year, an increase of £11,179. Discounts allowed during the period aggregated £5155.

At the suggestion of the General Purposes Committee, it was decided to appi/ to the Highways Board, Whangarei, for a subsidy on the cost to the board cf removing poles occasioned by reconstruction work on the Henderson-Kumeu highway.

It was reported that the tender of the Metropolitan-Yickers Electrical Company had been accepted for the supply of seven 100 k.v.a. transformers, at a cost of £82 10/ each.

The fact that Devonport leads all other suburbs and districts in the board'f area, so far as connections made are concerned, was revealed by the report of the resident engineer (Mr. F. J. fl. Wilson). At the end of January connections aggregated 0493, and of taii number 2059 were located in Devonport. Takapuna has the next biggest demaad for current, with S9S connections, white New Lynn is third on the list with S4J connections. Other districts are supplied as follow: —Birkenhead, 705 connections; Helensville and Kaukapakapi, 430; Henderson and Henderson Valley, 429; Northcote. 3<".7: Glen Eden, 301; East Coast bays. 143; Gleafield-Albany, 02; Oratia, -37;* Hobsonville. 52; Huapti, 49; Swanson, '3s', Taupaki, 34; and Greenhithe, 20.

Mr. Wilson, reporting on progress made with works in hand, said that poles had been erected along the route between Henderson Valley Road and the existing high tension line at the corner of the South Road, Henderson, along which low tension distribution was run. Night work had been carried out on the Henderson-Kumeu line for the purpose of moving poles in conformity with reconstruction work being effected by the Public Work* Department. _ A number of short low tensions extensions and the wiring of additional circuits for now consumers and stoves had been carried out in the Takapuna. Northco'.e and Birkenhead district-. The synchronous condenser was operating satisfactorily at Helcnsville, the improvement in voltajre regulation being marked and the peak loads registered at much improved power factors.
