A NEW INDUSTRY.
An Australian firm, Felt and Textiles, of Australia, Ltd., will shortly commence the manufacture of slippers in New Zealand. A new company, New Zealand Slippers, Ltd., has been formed in Australia, and twelve experts are now on their way to New Zealand to install the necessary plant and to engage a local staff. The parent company does not manufacture felt slippers in Sydney, and present plans are to ship material across the Tasman and let New Zealand turn out the finished article. It is also reported that a Christchurch firm has already started the manufacture of felt slippers.
