Mr. Conley had been ill for a long period. He is survived by one son and a daughter.
The late Mr. YV. G. Conlev. who became general manacer of the "Svdnev Morning Herald ' and -Sydney Mail'' in 1906, was born at Eton Yale. Queensland, in 1863. He was educated with a view to being a teacher, but he chanced his mind, and then studied for the Bar. His newspaper career was begnn in a printing office at Warwick. In 1808 he joined the , Svdnev Morning Herald" as a reporter, and rose quickly to the post of chief of staff.
