HIGHER SPEED LIMITS.

TWENTY MILES AN HOUR.

GRAFTON BRIDGE CHANGE

Faster motoring in the Domain and also a higher speed on Grafton Bridge will be allowed by the City Council, in accordance with recommendations adopted last evening.

The limit on Grafton Bridge has been raised from 10 miles an hour to 20, in the Domain, from 15 to 20 and on the Domain Drive from Stanley Street, from 10 to 15 miles an hour.

Opinion that the increased speeds should be safe was given by the city engineer, Mr. W. E. Bush, although the chairman of the works committee, Mr. J. Dempsey, said there had been several accidents in the places concerned.

The question of excluding horse-drawn traffic from Grafton Bridge was before) the council but no action was taken. The Mayor, Mr. Geo. Baildon, said it did not consider such a step would be necessary for some time.
