DEEP-SEA FISHING.
CATCHES AT WHANfiAROA. (By Telegraph.— Own CorresponcU-nr.) WHAXGAROA, this day. Mt«fc-tv ('has. Han-en, of Te Kojuini. and Alan Sanderson had a splendid afternoon's sport ye«terday, fishing from the 20ft launch Scripts. Sir. Hansen landed, after a brisk tu**l*. a s\vordfi-li wpiphinj: 2181 V). which in the final stapes gave the an»ler and his companion a lively time nwinjr to the smallness of the craft. When the fish was at last stowed it practically filled the cockpit. It was the first swordrish landed on the new north ground at Whanparoa. Mr. Sanderson landed a 2tiolh mako shortly after at Riiahine Reef. The fish gave great trouble after harpooning, but was ultimately secured and had to be towed home owing to lack of space on the launch. The weather was calm but overcast. The shoals were good and active.
