Business has been good on 'Change during the week, a lot of sales being made of shares in banking corporation*. Bank of New South Wales had quite A number of transaction* at £51 5/, and the week closed with buyers at £51 10/ and sellers at 5/ above that price. Union Bank of Australia shares sold from £15 16/6 to £15 15/, and National Bank of New Zealand again changed fiends at £7 3/, and Bank of New Zealand shares eold from £;{ 2/ to £3 2/0. Business was also done tins week in Australian Bank of Commerce shares, at £1 13/11. and there were occasional inquiries for Bank of Adelaide filial es at £10. Inquiry wae made yeeterday for National Bank of Australia shares at £19, but no seller quoted. ; Commercial Bank shares were quoted this week ex rights to the new issue, and buyers offered 8,9 for the rights. E.S. and A. Bank shares were offered yesterday afternoon at £9 1/ and buyers advanced their price to £8 17/. Shares in woollen companies had good demand all round thie week. Kaiapoi preference shares sold at 15/f}> and for the ordinary issue 13/0 is now offered. Mo«jiiell woollen shares are in demand at £7 7/0, and Wellington woollen ordinary issue could be placed at £7 1/0. An extra V could be got for the preference issue. Insurance eh area had steady demand during the week, sales being made of New Zealand* at £2 7/3 and of Nationals at W/l. .South British are .wanted at £3 4/3, and threepence less is offered for Queensland*. A.P.A. insurance shares firmed yesterday, buyers offering 7/6, but Sellers asked another half a crown.

Sales were made during the week of sliavee in Dalgety, Ltd., at £15 8/, and buyers now offer 2/ under that price. N.#. Loan and Mercantile ordinary stock are in steady request at £120, and buyers for the preference issue advanced their offers to £82. N.Z. Farmers' Fertilizer shares sold at £1 0/6 and N.Z. aad River Plate were placed yesterday at £1 13/6, aii advance in each instance. Xewtoa King preference shares also firmed, being now wanted at 8/3 as against 7/ a week ago.

Coal shares are in good demand all round. Hikurangi preference Sold at 11/2, and Kenowns from 16/e to 17/6. Pnkerniro Colleries changed hands at £3 7/3, and buyers offered threepence under that price at the third call yesterday. A number of transactions took place in Auckland (Jas fully paid issue at £1 4/5, and for the contributing shares 18/ was paid. The annual report of the directors recommends the usual dividend at the rate of 8 per cent per annum. Inquiry wag made this week for Gisborne Gas shares at 9/. All shipping shares had bfiyeis this week. P, and 0. Deferred Stock firmed in price, sales being made at £3 2/6, which late is still obtainable, t Devonport Ferry eharee eold at £ I 4/9. Business waa done in Northern £team at 14 1 and 6 8 for the respective issues. Timber share* were without inquiry and Kauris were offered at 18/9 yesterday. Australian Glass shares bad sales this week at £2 10/. British Tobacco shares, after selling at £2 6/ earlier in the week, were wanted at £2 9/ yesterday afternoon. Colonial Sugar Coy. shares also advanced to buyers at £60 10/ but sellers asked £60 17/6. A fair number of gales occurred tflig week in Waihi shares at prices rising from 14/7 to 14/10. Ohinemini Mines sold at 8/3, and Mount LyelFs at £2 '1/4% Buyers of Kuala Kampa Tin ottered 14' yesterday, and Electrolytic Zinc preference issue could be placed at £ 1 17/. Business was done this week in both issues of Soldiers 5& per cent loan at £101 10/ and £101 5/, the latter price being accepted for the inscribed stock. The 4'/6 per cent War Loan, 1938, inscribed also sold at £99 12/6. Various 6 per cent focal bodies debentures are wanted at £102 10/, and Auckland Harbour Hoard 6 per cetit co«ld be placed at £103.. The market has been strong throughout the week, price* all round being well maintained, and in a number of line* buyers offered higher figures.
