SWIMMING.

PAEROA CLUB.

At the committee meeting of the Paeroa Swimming Club thirteen new members wer* elected. A letter from the town clerk stated that all active members should be m possession of a season, monthly or daily ticket when attending on the club's evening at the baths. The president said this was what had been arranged with the Borough Council and had obtained since in inception of the club.

The secretary of the Sooth Auckland Centre forwarded a list of clubs aiming with the centre and also the definition at an amateur and the procedure to be followed for reinstatement.

The president and secretary were appointed delegates to attend a special meeting of the Sonth Auckland Centre at Cambridge on February 4. Messrs. Hayward and Watson were appointed a subcommittee to arrange novelty events for the club evenings. It was decided to hold the next club races for the points prize on Thursday, 31st inst., the distances to be 33 1-3 yards for boys, girls and ladies, and 66 2-3 yards for men, entries to close on Tuesday next.

The president reported that the Borongh Council had decided to grant £10 towards the purchase of material for seats, provided the club undertook the erection of the seats and gave 10 per cent of carnival gate receipts. The meeting confirmed the president's action in accepting these terms and the secretary was instructed to call a working bee of members as oon ah the timber arrived.

A decision was made to hold a swimming gala on the evening of February 14 and the following programme was drawn up:—■ Children under 12 years, across the baths, a prize to be given to each competitor; girls under 14 years, 33 1-3 yards handicap: boys under 14 years, 33 1-3 vards handicap; girls under 17, 33 1-3 vards handicap: boys under 17, 33 1-3 vards handicap ; ladies. 33 1-3 yards bandicap; men, 33 1-3 yards handicap; men, 66 2-f yards handicap; men, 100 yards handicap; neat diving competition for ladies and meat dual relay race and several novelty events. Entries close on February 11.
