Coroner Compliments Student
Rescuer.
WONDERFUL HEROISM.
SYDNEY, January 21
The inquest concerning the death <>f Colin James Stuart, aged 14, who «1M attacked by a shark at Bond! on January 12, was concluded to-day. The coroner complimented Robert Kavanou«h, dental student, who was mainly responsible for Stuart's rescue. He described his action as most wonderful, and as fraught with grave danger. The hope was expressed by the coroner that Kavanough's heroism wouid be recogniscd in the proper quarter. His family should be proud of such a noble lad. Kavanough and his mother modestly thanked the coroner.
SURFING TRAGEDY. YOUTH WASHED OFF BOARD. (Received 12 noon.) MELBOURNE, this day. Washed off a 6urf board, Frederick Bannister, aged ten, was carried out to sea and drowned at Mentone. The tragedy was witnessed by his mother. The body has not been recovered.
