(Australian and K.Z. Press Association.) LOXDOX, January 21. In conncction with the murder of Mr. Vivian Messiter, aged 55, Southampton manager of an American oil company, whose body was found in his garage on January 11, the police detained for examination William F. Thomas, motor mechanic, aged 32. s Tho interrogation of Thomas by the police at Southampton was one of the longest in the history of crime. It was begun on Friday afternoon and ended on Sunday. Two detectives then arrived to take Thoinas back to Manchester in connection with a missing motor car. It is understood that witnesses failed to identify Thomas* as a man who hail been seen talking to Mr. Messiter. Miss Hainbledon, the golden-baired woman with whom Thomas had resided at Southampton, was also questioned, and then returned to her home.
