Orchardist Killed By Moth
'Plane.
MACHINE A WRECK.
SYDNEY, January 21
Tragedy attended the forced landing of a Moth aeroplane to-day on a farm at Windsor, 34 miles north-west of Sydney. The machine, which was owned by the Government, struck down and killed Mr. Alfred Smith, a well-known orchaidist, while he was hoeing weeds. He sustained terrible injuries from the swiftly revolving propeller. The 'plane burst into flame. The pilot, Robert Somerville, and the mechanic, Leslie Milgate, were rescucd by Mr. Smith's son, who had witnessed the accident to his father.
The pilot happened to be a friend of the Smith family, and he was so overcome by the tragic occurrence that hehad to be sent to hospital.
