WATER AND THE SUBURBS
I think it is time the Mouut Wellington Road Board woke up to the very urgent need of a water supply. lam quite sure that after our experience of last summer the majority of the residents in this favoured district would not oppose such a scheme. Ln?t summer roost of us hatt to buy water, and in homes with families there is, during the summer months, a constant screwing and pinching with th» poor supply off the roofs. A water supply Would more than pay for itself if only from a health |>oint of view; it would also brin* more people into the district to help to pay for it, as well as better roads. Sanitary conditions, now non-existent, would be greatly improved, as many residents would go in for septic tanks, for which a dependable water supply is needed. Twelve months ago I was told definitely by a board official thai a water service would be inaugurated within a year— there is still no sign of it: It was hoped that the newly-formed ratepayers association would have stirred matters up. but they seem a« much asleep as the Mount Wellington Road Board. URGENT NECESSITY.
