A Clou Finish.

Seventeen paraded for the Apprentices' Plate, and Llanore ( £1720) was favourite, with Stanchion ( £1501) and Grand Acre ( £930) the next best backed. Paquito, Clarendon, Wine Tray, and Llanore were the most prominent at the start, but when a furlong had been covered Grand Acre was in charge from Llanore, Sylvan Dell, Clarendon, Topere, Filosol, and Wine Tray. Sylvan Dell was first to turn for home from Wine Tray, Swoopalong, Moorgae and Grand Acre.
