(By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") TRENTHAM, this day. The summer meeting of the Wellington Racing Club opened to-day in beautiful weather. There was a large attendance and the course was in good order. Public Start Well. The programme opened with the Trentham Highweight Handicap, for which Airtight ( £800), Toawai ( £690) and Star Raid (£069), were the chief fancies, and they in that order. Royal Lineage and Diana's Lad got chopped back at the start. Mandarine was an early leader from Airtight, Bright Land and Singer, but when the field settled down Bright Land was in charge from Mandarine, Zeuxis and Airtight, a bunch at the back being headed by Toawai and Star Raid, while Thurnbell and Royal Lineage were last. Bright Land held his position across th.? top with Zeuxis, Teremoana,Bright Day, Airtight, Mandarine and Star Raid next in order. The same order was preserved into the straight, where Airtight came through, and, stalling off Toawai, won by a neck, Star Raid two lengths away third, with Zeuxis, Bright Land, Teremoana, Bonhomme, Bright Day, Royal Lineage and Madarine next. Honour Wins Nicely. The scratching of Aspiring, Clever and My Own left & field of nine to contest the Wellington Stakes. The bracket Goblin Market and Honour were the first fancies, carrying £2519, with Childsplay (£2389) and Ceremony ( £1214) next in request. The field was very fractious at the barrier, but eventually were sent away on terms. First Money led on to the course proper from Francolin, Speedlight, Ceremony, Honour and Gay Ballerina. First Money was still in front a furlong from home, where Honour ranged alongside, and, galloping in great style, won by half a length from First Money. Childsplay was one and a-half lengths away, third, with Francolin, Admiral Drake, Gay Ballerina, Goblin Market, Ceremony and Speedlight in that order.
