Following four raids, which were carried out simultaneously on the premises of Chinese in Taranaki Street, a number of Chinese and European- were to-day charged with offence* arising out of th* playing of pa k a poo.
Two Chinese, who wore fined three months afro, and who had straightway reopened in the gambling bucrness, were each fined £40. in default three montht* imprisonment. Two others -were 120 each, in default six weeks' imprison-
