NEW SCHOONER-YACHT.

VALKYRIE LAUNCHED.

SAFELY OFF AT LAST.

The schooner-rigged yacht Valkyrie, which Messrs. C. Bailey* and Son. Ltd.. have built for Captain* E. lolling, was safely launched yesterday and now lie? at the Albert wharf having her sails bent on and generally getting ready for her first cruise.

The christening ceremony was performed by Miss Alison Bailey, a five-year-old granddaughter of " Mr. C. Bailey, who broke the usual bottle of champagne on the boat's bow as she started off the stocks.

At a gathering in the builder's shed afterwards best wishes were expressed towards Captain and Mrs. Gilling and their new ship. Captain Gilling, in acknowledging the toast, paid a compliment to the good work put into the yacht by her builders The yacht is now being fitted out for her first cruise and is expected to leave next week for the deep sea fishing grounds off Mercury Bay.
