TO-DAY'S RACING.

Thames Jockey Club. Flying Juliet's Cup—Flying Tresses and Valuation Share Tapu—Bizarro Lifts Highweight. Excellent weather favoured the Thames .Tookey Club to-day when th.» annual meeting was opened at the Parawai course. There was a big crowd present from Thames and surrounding districts, and a large number made th-> trip from Auckland this morning b/ boat and car. The track is in excellent order. Two Surprises. Backers commenced badly. their favoured selections failing to return a dividend in the Tapu Handicap. The race was run in two divisions and an outsider won in each instance, doiiblefigure dividend-; being returned. Good Boy wa*> the favourite with £335. Hijih Tide being second fancy with £201. but the winners—Flying and Valuation — carried only £45 0/ and £SS respectively. In •!••> • i'"'- ■ ■■„ Ki'.it-ucl wra« fir<t out, but Flying Tressea soon ran to the front and led along the back from Footpad, The Jack Jumper and Swift Flight. Dainty Arch then moved up. and across the top was running along tnird. Flying Treesee still being the leader from Footpad. Flying Tresses was first round the home turn from Dainty Arch, Footpad. The Jack Jumper, High Tide and Gold Lily. In the run to the judge Flying Tresses held her own and won by a length from Dainty Arch, with The Jack Jumper a length aifd a-half away. High Tide was fourth, followed by Footpad, .Swift Flight and King Leslie. In the second division Good Boy jumped out first and led Josie Melville, Camp Prince and Valuation along the back. Valuation had moved up third behind Josie Melville racing across the top, and before the straight was reached was up second, Good Boy being in front. Justify, who had showed a lot of pace, was in third place, with Camp Prince next. In the straight Valuation was too good for Good Boy and beat him a length, with Justify a length and a-half away. Prince of Orange was next, with Josie Melville and Land Measure following. All the Way.

The withdrawal of Glenstar, Tarrapeen and Charitaine left a field of 14 in the High-weight Handicap and backers settled on Kamblin , Kid and War Offiqer as the most likely pair to return a dividend. Ramblin , Kid was the favourite with £437 on his chance, but he was never sighted near the leading division, and the winner turned up in BLzarro, who ruled third choice on the machine. Mangani dwelt and lost a couple of lengths, Bizarro going out in front from Mashoor, War Officer, and Whaka King. Except that coming across the top Mangani ran up fourth only to fade away again, there was practically no alteration in the order. Bizarro was always the leader with Mashoor trailing him, but at the straight entrance War Officer momentarily headed Mashoor. Bizarro was clear of the field entering the straight, where War Officer. Mashoor and Whaka King were handy, but they could not get to the leader, and kicked along Bi7.arro won by a couple of lengths froi.i Mashoor. War Officer was a length away. Asniodeus made up a lot of ground in the straight to get fourth, and Archeno and Oold Rain were next. Whaka King faded right out in the straight.

Subdivision Easily. Tn a field of eleven for the Puriri Hack Handicap the Takapuna-trained Arihana was made favourite from another Takapuiia-trained one in Subdivision. Arihana carried £.~>47 and Subdivision £4.'*S, the third choice being Konian Pearl (£27n. The favourite at one *tage of the race wae in sixth position. but that was the nearest he ever jrot to the lead, and he was never looking really dangerous. Subdivision, on the other hand, was always handy and he gave nothing a chance at the end. Takutama, Envoy and Roman Pearl were prominent, but the two lastnamed did not hold their positions and with two furlongs pone Takutama wae leading Subdivision. Princess Rain. Envoy, At apa i and Arihana. Racing across the top for the home turn Subdivision and Princess Rain were the leading pair from Takutama and Indolent. Then Subdivision drew out and swung into tlie straight with a good break on Princess Rain, with Takutama, Crown Arch. Indolent and Envoy following. Doing it easily in front Subdivision ran home a very comfortable winner by two length* and a-nalf from Princess Rain. Takutama held third place all the waydown the straight, but was a couple of lengths back. Indolent did best of the others, to get fourth, with Envoy and the favourite just in front of Roman Pearl. Flying Juliet's Cup.

Ohincniuri and King Smock were the late withdrawals from the Cup, the small field of half a dozen going to the post. Her good run when she finished a close fourth in the (Jrandstand Handicap at Ellerslie pointed to Flying .Juliet, and the Romeo mare was made a good favourite, carrying £!M)!». \a- Chouca* was second choice with £69.">, and Wenday was supported to the extent of £513. The race was interesting, and the result suited backers, as the favourite went to the front at the start, and the lead was never taken from her. though Wenday was up with her most of the way. Just after the start the horses settled down to positions, Flying Juliet and Wenday lieiug the leaders from Eh Timi, Te Koroke. Le Ohoiieas. and Serang. Xo alteration took place along the back, but eomine to the home turn Flying Juliet and Wenday were well clear of the others. Eh Timi s< ill being third, with Te Koroke. Serang and Le Chouras following. Tu tinstraight Flying Juliet and Wenday settled down to a race home. Flyiny Juliet doing best and getting the verdict by half a length. Le Chouc-as wa« a very moderate third, beinir three length- j away. Eh Timi. Te Koroke and Serang followed. T.VPI* HANTHCAP of inosovs. Sis furl«.n:rs | First Division.
