RAILWAY SERVANTS.
CONFERENCE NEXT MONTH. NEW EXECUTIVE COUNCIL. (By Telegraph.—Special to " Star.") WELLINGTON, this day. The biennial conference of the Amalgamated Society of Railway Servants opens at Wellington on February 4. Its 10 delegates were elected on a national ballot and they comprise representatives of all branches of the second division of the service. At the same election the 10,000 members of the organisation voted on the preferential system for their national executive council, which holds office for two years. The successful candidates were as follows:— North Island.—Traffic and stores, Mr. A. Bradley, Frankton; locomotive workshops, Mr. J. J. Scott, Easttown; permanent way, Mr. P. B. Gavan, Frankton; way and works, signal and electrical signalling workers, Mr. E. Furness, Penrose. South Island.—Traffic, Mr. M. Connelly, Dunedin; locomotive workshops. Mr. A.- J. Morison, Hillside; permanent way, Mr. E. J. Dash, Timarn; way and works, signal and electrical signalling workers, Mr. E. C. Fraser, Dunedin. When the conference has concluded a ballot of the whole of the society's membership will bo taken to elect a national president.
