WEDDINGS OF THE WEEK.

BENFELL—BREGMEN. A quiet wedding took place on December 28 at the home of the bride, when Lena, second daughter of Mi\ and Mrs. Bregnien, of Biikenhead, was married to James, eldest son of Mr. and Mrs. Benfell, of Chelsea. The Kev. J. H. Allen officiated. The bride made a charming picture frockecl in a biege ensemble suit and smart hat to tone. She also carried an ivory bound prayer book. .Miss Elsie Bregnien attended her sister as bridesmaid. Her dress was of eau de nil ring velvet and hat to correspond. Mr. G. Benfell attended his brother as best man. After the ceremony the guests (of which only immediate relatives and close friends were present) were entertained at a wedding breakfast. BEAR—BATES. A pretty wedding was celebrated in St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, Te Kuiti, on Tuesday afternoon, when Elizabeth Mcßride Macauley Bates, only daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. Bates, of "Rayenston," Te Kuiti, was married to Reginald, second son of Mr. and Mrs. A. D. Bear, of Tauranga. The bride,

who was given away by her father, was daintily gowned in white satin, trimmed with silver lame and diamante, with orthodox veil and orange blossoms, and carried a neat bouquet of white lilies and roses. The bridesmaid, Miss Dora Bear, was attired in a gown of mauve crej>e de chine with needlerun lace, and the bridegroom was supported by' Mr. J. Bates, the bride's brother. There were also present Mr., Mrs. and Miss Bear, of Tauranga, Mr. and Mrs. Davis, of Taumarunui, Mr. Ferguson, of Auckland, together with a number of local guests. The ceremony was performed by the Rev. W. Kearney, of Huntly, an uncle of the bride. As the bridal party left the church, the wedding march was played by Mrs. A. Boyle, and the guests repaired to "Bonny Glen," the home of the bride's parents, where the wedding breakfast was spread.

HAMBLIN—PEET. The wedding took place at St. Andrew's Church, Epsom, on Wednesday afternoon, of Miss Blanche Peet, second daughter of Mr. and the late Mrs. W. Peet, of Mt. Albert Road, Royal Oak, to Mr. Claude Hambliii, youngest son of Mr. and Mrs. YV. H. Hamblin, of Empire Road, Epsom. The Rev. F P.. Willis oiticiated. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charming in a frock of ivory georgette with a long waisted bodice and a full skirt of frilled georgette, each frill being edged with lace. Sprays of silver and georgette roses fell from one shoulder and the tulle veil was arranged on the head with tiny bands of orange blossom. A shower bouquet of white flowers, was carried by the bride. Miss Mary Hamblin and Miss Nora Hamblin, nieces of the bridegroom, were bridesmaids, and wore frocks of lavender and blue taffeta respectively, with crinoline hats, and they carried bouquets to tone. The bridegroom was supported by Mr. R. T. Mark as best man and Mr. F. Rowley as groomsman. The church was beautifully decorated by the friends of the bride. After the ceremony a reception was 'held at the residence of the bride's father, the guests being received by Mrs. F. P. Hewitt, sister of the bride, who wore a frock in an almond green shade, and hat to match. The bridegroom's mother was attired in a smart black frock of crepe satin, with black satin hat with ospreys and brilliant buckle. Mrs. H. Hamblin were a grey frock relieved with royal blue and grey hat to tone. Mrs. A. F. Winks, the bride's younger sister, wore a mushroom pink frock and gold hat. Mrs. Roy Peet was in bois de rose crepe de chine frock and hat to tone.
