MR. WILLIAM R. KETTLE.

GREYMOUTH, this day,
The death occurred this morning of Mr. William Bobert Kettle, aged 84. He was born in London and arrived with his parents at Greyniouth in 1874. Subsequently he started business as a general merchant and was during his life Mayor, chairman of the Harbour Board, Grey Education Board, Hospital Board, president of the Chamber of Commerce, and Served on miiheroiis local todies and societies. Ho was prominent in district commercial concerns, racing and trotting dubs. He was also a Freemason and a Druid, chairman of the "Greymouth Evening Star Company." and during the war was a prominent member of the Grey Patriotic Society. He visited Honolulu for the Press Congress in 1923 and celebrated his golden wedding this year. He is survived by a widow, two daughters and one son.
