HER PAST.
EVANGELIST QUESTIONED.
LONDON, Octol jr 11
Mrs. Aimee Seinple McPherson, the Los Angeles evangelist; afteF a comparatively disappointing demonstration, was better patronised on her birthday. The hall was half filled, c mostly by women waving yellow-backed hymn books, but the atmosphere was not electrical.
Aimee's address was a routine evangelical effort, except for gestures such as sawing her hand against her side to represent Gcd removing Adam's rib, an-i banging the Bible to represent Noah felling trees to build the Ark.
Towards the tnd of the meeting a woman loudly demanded from the balcony an explanation of the mystery of Mrs. McPherson's alleged kidnapping, when she mysteriously disappeared'from Los Angeles. r •
The chorus leader immediately called for a hymn,: drowning the interjector. The "Daily News" expresses the opinion that the mission has not. been successful; not because Mrs. McPherson is too .emotional or sensational, but because she is too cheerful for a revivalist.
