WIGHT'S BRILLIANT ROUND.

DUNEDIN, this day.

The weather is overcast, with very little wind, for the golf tourney. The semi-final of the professional championship and the third ronnd of the amateur (both 36 holes) championship ar© being played. Professional Championship. The first 18 holes resulted:— A. J. Shaw, 2 up on E. S. Douglass. J. Mcintosh, 3 up on J. A. Clement*. Amateur Championship. Third Round.— C. B. Wight, 9 up on J. L. Black. •S. C. Colbeck, 1 up on L D. Duncan. T. H. Horton, 4up on H. A. Black. * K. Ross, 10 up on A. G. Sime. Douglass had the advantage at the turn, but" Shaw's better putting reversed the position. Both played good, long games, shaw's total being 74 to Douglass' McLntdeh's 73' -enabled him to establish a lead of & on Clements, whose putting was weak. Wight created a sensation by recording 67, which is "a course record for Balmacewan. He was out in 31 and in in 36. Black played a good 76, which was useless against Wight's super golf. The closest match of the morning was between Duncan and Colbeck. There was never more than one between them and the one was in Colbeck's favour at the end of the round.

The gallery that -followed the RossSime match weer given a finished display of 71 by Ross, but a very disappointing showing by Sime, who visited the bunkers with short approaches and bad putting.

Miss D. Chrystal (Christchurch) leads those who qualified for. the Wellington provincial golf championship, with a score of 161, Mrs. Guy Williams is next with 169. Others are: Miss Petrie, Mrs. Weston, Miss Marchbanks, Miss Upham, Mesdames Collins and Robertson, Misses Gambrill, Beadel and Hamlin, Mrs. Stout, Miss Sim, Mrs. Wilson and Missep Bristed, North and Norton.
