LICENSING AMENDMENT. NO HINT OF ITS CONTENTS. i PRINTING OF BALLOT PAPERS. (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. It is possible that the Prime Minister's Licensing Amendment Bill, 1928—the contents of which everyone is trying to guess—will be brought down towards the end of next week. Mr. Coates made a short statement to that effect in the House this afternoon, when the Leader of the Opposition atked about the probable appearance of the eagerly-awaited measure. "We are well past the middle of the session," said Mr. Holland, "and it is possible that when this bill is finally passed it might involve some important alteration to the ballot paper. I would like an assurance that the bill will be brought down in time which will not delay the printing of the ballot paper and other matter in connection with the licensing poll." "I can assure the hon. gentleman that the bill will be introduced in ample time to permit of any alterations being made to the ballot papers, in the event of that being necessary," said the Prime Minister. "Possibly the bill will make its appearance next week—towards the end of next week."
