THE DAIRY INDUSTRY.
WHANGAREI. (By Telegraph.—Own Correspondent.) WHANGAREI, this day.
There was a fair attendance of suppliers at the annual meeting of the Whangarei Co-operative Dairy Company, held yesterday. Mr. E. S. Tremaine, chairman of directors, presided. An amount of £10,786 was available for distribution by way of amlsev ~cetaoin etaoin etaoin etaoin linn deferred payment, representing 1/7 per lb, a dividend of 5 p.c. on paid capital absorb* in £337. The net payments to suppliers was 1/6.7, which represented one of the highest averages, all grades included, paid by any factory in the Dominion. Total sales realised £193,027, or £19,169 more than the previous year.
The chairman said in regard to rural intermediate credit that the directors had turned down, a proposal that the company act as guarantor for loans as unwise. Shareholders had been circularised, but only six towards the requisite 25 had asked that an association under the scheme be established. The directors had decided to instal a. plant for the purpose of the manufacture of butter milk powder. The retiring directors, Mr. E. S. Tremaine and Col. McCarroll, were re-elected unopposed. DAIRY BOARD'S LEVY. At the annual meeting of the Norfolk Dairy Company several speakers expressed the view that the levy imposed by the Dairy Control Board was too high, and a motion was carried protesting against the heaviness of the levies, and urging that the producers' representatives only be included in the personnel of the board.
