WINGATUI WHISPERS.
TRACK WORK FOR OTAGO HUNT. EATON BELLS AND LITTLE QUEEN IN FORM. (By Telegraph—Special to "Star.") DUNEDIN, Tuesday. The Otago Hunt Club's meeting on Saturday is creating a good deal of interest amongst racing men, as it will provide the first public appearance of a number of horses now in training. For this reason, if no other, fields in the flat races promise to be large. The training tracks a;t Wingatui this morning were in first-class order. Lochella was one of the first to work, and was sound over a couple of rounds at a fairly strong pace. King Sol went a good mile and aquarter, finishing up the last seven furlongs in 1.30. Battlement, who looks very well, and Set Sail each finfiished strongly over five furlongs in 1.4. Rosacre, Salmo, Solar, and Eaton Bells ran five furlongs in 1.5 4-5, the last- [ named going much the best at the finish. 1 Lucy Locket and Pilaster went five furlongs in 1.4 3t5, and the gallop will gain the latter friends for his engagement on Saturday. Radiant Knight and Killorna also took 1.4 3-5 to cover five furlongs; the former was going very nicely at the finish. Wine Tray beat Rotorex over five furlongs in 1.5 1-5. This pair did not appear to have pace on in the first two furlongs, but finished very strongly. Little Queen finished well in a halfmile sprint home by herself. She is on the small side, but can gallop fast. Caramba, who has been purchased by Mr. J. S. Hazlett and arrived from the South, was schooled over four flights of hurdles with Armchair. Excepting that the latter was inclined to run about at the third hurdle he gave a good exhibition, and took a shade over 1.19 for the journey—a good performance. For a hunter Caramba jumped indifferently throughout, and haulked several times at the last hurdle. He does not look like even a possibility in the Hunter's Hurdles. Cassalls gave a good exhibition of safe jumping over four schooling fences, including the brtwn fence, sod wall and stand doubles. He was joined by Romance, who cantered a little tenderly at the double, but jumped it well.
