ROTORUA NOTES.

Miss Mary Harvey, of Auckland, is on a visit to Rotorua. Mrs. Rainger, of Auckland, is a guest at the Geyser Hotel, Whakarewarewa. Mrs. K. Hanks, of Reparoa, is spending the school holidays at Muriwai. Mrs. J. M. Wilson and family, of Portland Road, Remuera, are staying at the Geyser Hotel, Whakarewarewa. Mrs. Fitzwilliam, Ohinemutu, is spending a holiday at Bockenham Avenue, Epsom, Auckland. Miss Georgina Hum, who has been in Rotorua for over a year, has returned to her home in Wellington. Miss Clarke, who has been on a visit to Rotorua, has left for Hamilton and Morrinsville. Mrs. Hum, who has been a guest at Hotel Arawa, has returned to her home at Oriental Bay, Wellington. Miss W. McHardie is staying at "Arundel," Auckland, for the school holidays. Mrs. Raw, who has been staying at Hotel "Arawa," has reurned to Wellington. Major-General B. S. Merlin and Mrs. Merlin, have returned to their home in Wellington, after a three months' visit to Rotorua. Mrs. D. Mackay and Miss Margaret Mackay, of the Thames, are visiting Rotorua, and are the guests of Mrs. A. T. Coates, Malfroy Road. The members of the Rotorua Basketball Club gave an enjoyable dance and card tournament in Dixieland Cabaret, Rotorua, on Friday evening, in honour of the visiting -basketball team from the Auckland Training College. The visiting Auckland Marathon footballers were also guests, and there was a large attendance of dancers and card players. The hall was attractively decorated with clusters of long streamers in shades of gold, yellow, red and blue suspended from the ceiling, and delightful music was supplied by Hunter's jazz orchestra, with extras played by Miss Ellis. Several novelty dances were held, and added gaiety to the evening, the Monte Carlo waltz prize being won by one of the Training College girls and partner. The prizes for the progressive 500 tournament were won by Mrs. W. Walker, for the ladies, and Miss St. Clair, who played as a man, for the men. Among the many present were: Mrs. J. N. Mrs. J.
