Miss Gleitze Fails To Swii* Irish Sea. GETS THIRTEEN MILES. (Australian Press Assn. —United Service.) LONDON, July 27. Miss Mercedes Gleitze made a second attempt to-day to swim the Irish Channel from Donachadee, County Down, to Port patrick, Scotland, a distance in & straight line of 22 miles. She abandoned the effort after having swum 13 miles in 14 hours. OLYMPIC GAME A Torrential Downpour At Amsterdam. TRAINING SUSPENDED. (Australian Press Assn.—United Service.) (Received 12.30 p.m.) AMSTERDAM, July 27. A thunderstorm of tropical intensity with torrential rain caused the complete suspension of training by the Olympic athletes. The downpour is bound to affect the stadium track seriously, rendering record breaking most unlikely.

Advices from Kabaul state that the seven head-liuuters who were recently convicted of murders during a tribal light on the Sepik River were hanged at Ambundi in the presence of their fellow-tribesmen.
