WAIHI NOTES.
(By Telegraph—Own Correspondent.) WAIHI. this day. The Waihi branch of the Farmers" Union met evening. It was decided to urge the Railway Department to improve the cattle and sheep loading yards at Waihi and Waikino. Mr. Cole, first assistant at the East End School, oil the eve of his departure for Dargaville, was presented with a toilet set and a leather collar-box by the teachers and pupils. Mr. Andrews, headmaster, referred to Mr. Cole's good services and liis interest in the school cricket and football. Mr. E. J. Scoble. of Wailii. who has been appointed inspector of mines, following the retirement of Mr. M. Paul, left for Reefton yesterday to take up his duties in the West Coast district. Mr. J. F. Downey, of Reefton. will take up his duties a-. inspector at Waihi. - Dr. Henderson, Director of.Geological Survey, visited the underground workings of the Waihi mine this week. Fie also visited Te Puke.
