Only a fragment of sail, washed up on the precipitous northwest shore, remained. A dinghy was rowed over the rpot where the launch was last seen. It is believed that it either sank and flipped into deep water beyond the reef, or that it dropped its ballast, in which case itwill be washed up on the beach in the vicinity of Waipu. The owner's loss is not covered bv insurance.
